Back in August, DC Comics initiated a massive reboot of nearly every single franchise under its belt. The relaunch, called “The New 52″, has received mixed reviews from diehard and new comic book fans alike. Flagship series such as Superman and Batman have gotten some high praise, but some of the second tier heroes have been rushed, given uninteresting plot lines or poor villain choices. Franchises like Hawk and Dove, Catwoman, and Green Arrow have suffered from stiff releases, leading some fans to lose heart. There is, however, one reboot that stands head and shoulder above the rest:

TwitchTV Launches iPhone App

Ever wanted to watch your favorite pro gamer stream while you’re on the train? It may be a pipe dream no longer. TwitchTV, Justin.tv’s gaming focused offshoot, has released its first iPhone app. The HD capable app attempts to replicate the main site’s experience with a simple, scaled back interface. While I imagine network speed will play a huge role in the success of your viewing experience, it’s exciting to see streaming distributors moving in this direction.

Six Movies to Watch this Halloween

Every time October rolls around, I like to find a nice set of viewing material to get in tune with the darker sides of the human psyche. While it’s fun to bask occasionally in the gore-filled schlock of a slasher grade B-movie, I tend to prefer my horror movies with a capital “M”. It is possible for a movie to maintain artistic merit while scaring an audience shitless, after all.
