Long ago, in a time when trendy books never quite reached the fevered mania that they do today, there was a book called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (or Philosopher’s Stone in the UK). It came out, a LOT of people read it, and the world pretty much changed forever.
I was not one of those people. In fact, I rebelled against the books, hard. If you ask me why now, I couldn’t tell you. I just know that at the time, a book that popular annoyed me so much that I wanted nothing to do with it. Maybe it was sheer nerd snobbiness, or maybe it was ignorance. Regardless, I didn’t pick up a single Harry Potter book until the summer after I graduated college in 2007. Yes, that’s a full 10 years after the first book was published, and after half the movies were out. It was at that point, right before the release of the final book, that I decided it was time to “jump on the bandwagon” and see what all the fuss was about. I borrowed Sorcerer’s Stone from a friend and dug in. Read on…

Welp, Thunderbolts is over.
Last week at Wondercon, Marvel announced that this summer, Thunderbolts, a title that has weathered success in fits and starts for 15 years, would be retitled, recast, and, for all intents and purposes, rebooted as a new Avengers title. Shit-canned. It will not be picked up for another season. Read on…

We seasoned fanboys and fangirls have been here before. Lord of the Rings fandom has shriveled. Potterdammerung is in full swing. After we walk out of the theaters, what do we do with ourselves until the next movie comes out? Read on…
Yes I know the title doesn’t rhyme. Let’s be serious, though, there’s going to be some serious chaos in Columbus this weekend, and I’m going to enjoy every blood soaked moment of it.
The last major MLG event resulted in Leenock’s ascent from the open bracket to the champion’s pedestal, proving that MLG’s year-long seeding process was ultimately compromised by the Korean variables.
This year, MLG has mixed up the formula, using a controversial pay-per-view “Arena” event to help generate its initial batch of groups. This event pulled together 32 top players from all over the world and pit them against each other. When the dust cleared, MarineKing emerged touting a well deserved top seed and a $10,000 check. Columbus, however, presents far more dangerous obstacles. With Leenock and NesTea out due to GSTL and injury respectively, predicting the top finishers just became a lot more hazy. Read on…
