Geralt of Rivia goes on an aquatic adventure in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
Netflix has revealed an official trailer for the upcoming The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep animated film, and it’s looking to be yet another wild and action-filled adventure for everyone’s favourite witcher, Geralt of Rivia! The movie is set to release on February 11, 2025 on Netflix.
The film is based on the short story “A Little Sacrifice” from the collection “Sword of Destiny” by The Witcher writer Andrzej Sapkowski, and highlights an adventure gone awry for Geralt. In the book, Geralt acts as translator to a Duke Agloval, who wishes to propose to a mermaid named Sh’eenaz, but fails the job when neither party agrees to transform to live with the other.
Wanting for coin, Geralt accepts another job from Duke Agloval to investigate a mysterious disappearance aboard a pearl-diving boat, receiving the help of Dandelion and his close friend Essi Daven. From the looks of the trailer though, it looks like Yennefer of Vengerberg seems to also be involved.
The movie was first announced to be in development back in September 2021. Netflix collaborated with South Korean studio Studio Mir, as well as Platige Image and Hivemind for production of the movie, with Kang Hei Chul taking on the role of director. The screenplay was written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, with music by Joseph Trapanese.
Doug Cockle, who voiced Geralt in the video game series, returns to the role after Henry Cavill’s departure from The Witcher, while Joey Batey, who played Jaskier in the show, and Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, will reprise their roles from the live-action series. Christina Wren is set to voice Essi Daven. The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep was first slated for a 2024 release, but was delayed to February 11, 2025.
