The compilation film titled Yoshiwara in Flames is coming in 2026.
Gintama just revealed two massive updates for its fans at its 20th Anniversary Gintama Multiverse Festival. Firstly, it confirmed the 6 October, 2025 premiere for its upcoming spin-off anime series “3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-Sensei”, where everyone will leave the Edo period and enter a modern-day high school under their eccentric teacher Ginpachi. Moreover, the anime’s Yoshiwara in Flames arc, which came out in 2009, will be compiled into a movie with brand new scenes. The film is set to be released some time in 2026.
Gintama 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-Sensei series details
A brand new trailer and key visual has been released for the upcoming 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-Sensei spin-off anime. The show will premiere on 6 October, 2025. The new trailer features the series’opening theme "Sakurakaze" by BOTCHI BOROMARU and ending theme "Underclass HERO" by LONGMAN.
Natsumi Higashida directs the series with Makoto Moriwaki supervising as chief director. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handles series composition while Shinji Takeuchi is the character designer and chief animation director. BN Pictures is producing and animating the series.
Yoshiwara in Flames compilation movie details
Fans were excited to learn that the Yoshiwara in Flames arc of the anime from 2009 was being compiled into a movie. It was confirmed that the film will have additional scenes, which is exciting news. The movie is coming sometime in 2026, but a release date is yet to be confirmed.
The Gintama anime is based on Hideaki Sorachi’s action comedy manga of the same name. The anime began airing in 2005, which means 2025 marks its 20th year anniversary.
