The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 details

The short video shows a few flashing visuals of Naofumi’s group in a battle against someone in a desert. In the end, we see the hero’s face splattered with blood as he screams out in despair. The key visual for the upcoming season shows two glowing birds dancing around a massive fire, which means the fifth season will be anything but stale. Unfortunately, no other details about the upcoming sequel have been announced so far. However, the upcoming season will likely cover the story's Houou Arc.

The fourth season of the anime was directed by Hitoshi Haga at Kinema Citrus. Keigo Koyanagi penned the scripts while Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu and Masahiro Suwa designed the characters. The music and soundtrack was composed by Kevin Penkin, Alfredo Sirica and Natalie Jeffreys.

After the final episode of Season 4 aired, the anime also announced a video game project based on The Rising of the Shield Hero franchise. More details about the game will be revealed soon.

The Rising of the Shield Hero anime is based on the popular isekai fantasy light novel series written by  Aneko Yusagi. It has also been adapted into a manga series by Aiya Kyū. Crunchyroll streams all seasons of the show and describes the story as:

Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero.

Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world.

But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?
