The veteran voice actor will be the narrator for the show!
For the last few months, comedy anime enthusiasts have awaited the release of CITY THE ANIMATION. Created by the author of Nichijou, this manga-to-anime adaptation follows three university students and their everyday lives in a city simply called CITY. Thanks to the amazing animation shown in the trailer, this series has a lot of eyes on it. The show will premiere on 6 July, 2025. Ahead of the release, the anime revealed its final cast member.

Hōchū Ōtsuka (Jiraiya in Naruto, Sakonji Urokodaki in Demon Slayer) is joining the cast as the show’s narrator. Other cast members include:

Produced by Kyoto Animation, the series is being directed by Taichi Ishidate. Tamami Tokuyama is the character designer and chief animation director. Kana Miyata is handling the colour designs while Shiori Yamazaki is the art director. 3D direction is done by Tatsunori Kase. Yōta Tsuruoka is the sound director while the Piranhans are handling the music. Furui Riho is performing the opening theme song ‘Hello’ while TOMOO is performing the ending theme song ‘Lucky’.
Keiichi Arawi’s manga City first started publishing in 2016 in Kodansha’s Morning magazine. It revolves around three university girls named Midori, Aymu, and Wako, known as the Mont Blanc Trio. Filled with characters, laughter, and weird stories, navigate the lives of these three girls in their loving town called CITY.
