One of the reasons why Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan manga is so popular is due to the quick wit of the characters. Although most of them have amazing superpowers, the way they use their abilities is what ultimately trumps the villains. In the latest chapter, we saw a repeat of this with Evil Eye and Jiji. When it seemed like Evil Eye had no way to defeat Saint-Germain and his underhanded Smoke Yokai powers, Jiji is there to save the day with another intelligent plan.

Dandadan Chapter 204 recap
The issue begins with Evil Eye looking at Saint-Germain, who stands on top of a battered Seiko’s chest. Evil Eye begins to laugh at Seiko, and says how funny it is that she got defeated by a loser like him. Saint-Germain says that he will have his power too. But before he can finish his thought, Evil Eye throws the ninja he brought him at the villain. Although his Smoke Yokai power stops him from getting hurt, Saint-Germain’s body has to materialise again after the man’s body goes through him.
During that time, Evil Eye picks up Seiko and sets her safely down in another part of the room. He covers her body with his hoodie before starting his attack. He runs straight at the villain, but his fists go right through his smoky body. Saint-Germian kicks his face and throws him onto the ground. Evil Eye gets beaten up brutally, but can’t attack as everything goes through the other man’s body. After another scuffle, Saint-Germain tells him that his efforts are futile as no attack will ever be able to touch him.
Evil Eye screams frustratedly about how he’s a dirty cheater as Saint-Germain throws him down again. The villain tells him to accept defeat as he’s been beaten, but it seems that Evil Eye is talking to himself. He begrudgingly agrees to swap, and we immediately see Jiji taking over the body again. He offers Saint-Germain a ridiculous greeting and the villain asks if he wants to perish.
Saint-Germain points out that if he suffers any blows in his flesh-and-blood human state, he will die. Jiji agrees and says it would suck. But he has to try everything in his power before admitting defeat. The villain points out that his attacks will be futile as he’s even stronger than Evil Eye. Jiji only focuses his energy and sends a spiraling attack his way. Saint-Germain is shocked to realise that his smoke body can’t stop the new ambush and Jiji rejoices.
Dandadan Chapter 204 review
I can’t say it was fun to see Evil Eye get thrashed by Saint-Germain. Although his power of turning into smoke at will is almost impossible to counter, I hoped he would get some hits in. It was also disturbing to watch how eerily similar Germain’s hits were to Okarun’s when he defeated Evil Eye the first time. However, it proved once again that brute force just doesn’t cut it sometimes. You have to pick and choose the right powers to use at the right time. Jiji did just that, and managed to touch Saint-Germain for the first time during this fight. It seems that we’ll see some more impressive moves from Jiji soon. I’m getting worried about Momo because if they’re too late, she won’t be able to go back to her normal size.
