Between the anime series, OVAs, and movie, the franchise will continue to entertain fans for a decade more.
If you have been infatuated with the Lord of Mysteries anime (donghua) adaptation like many of us, then we have some spectacular news for you. In a recent livestream through Bilibili, it has been confirmed that the Lord of Mysteries anime has projects planned till 2035. This means for the next decade, the series will release regular seasons, OVAs, and even a final movie wrapping the story up.
Lord of Mysteries anime confirms six seasons and a final movie
According to the livestream, the Lord of Mysteries anime has a lot in store. Its journey began back in 2021 with the production confirmation. The first season (still ongoing) came out in 2025. As per the reveal, in 2026, the show will receive a special episode (OVA), while season 2 of the anime is coming in 2027, and will adapt the novel’s second volume.
Another special episode is slotted for 2028, with the third season adapting the third volume of the books coming out in 2030. Season 4 will be released in 2032 while season 5 will premiere in 2033. They will adapt volume 4 and 5 of the books. Volumes 6 & 7 of the books will be adapted in 2034, although it’s not clear if they’ll receive two different seasons or just one. Finally, the last volume of the novels will be made into a movie which will be released theatrically. A third special episode will also be released in the same year.
As you can see, the Lord of Mysteries fans have a whole decade worth of material to look forward to. Given that the original Chinese novel by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving (爱潜水的乌贼), is extremely popular and complex, with over 1400 chapters, it’s not surprising that the show is receiving such grand treatment.
