The two movies will compile the 13 episodes of the cult classic anime.
The official website and social media sites of the Odd Taxi anime announced that two compilation movies are coming! These movies are being released to commemorate the upcoming 10 October premiere of The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) movie, which is also created by Odd Taxi creators Baku Kinoshita and Kazuya Konomoto. The first Odd Taxi movie will premiere on 10-11 September, while the other will be released on 17-18 September.
Odd Taxi compilation films are coming next month!
The Odd Taxi movies are going to be shown in theaters across Japan for one weekend. The first movie, compiling episodes 1-7 of the anime will be shown on 10 and 11 September, 2025. The second film, compiling episodes 8-13, will be available on 17 and 18 September, 2025. The screenings will commemorate the creators’ upcoming movie “The Last Blossom”, and will even show a preview clip from it.
Back in 2022, a movie adaptation of the Odd Taxi anime was released, titled “Odd Taxi: In the Woods”. However, that was a reconstruction of the series and also includes bits that showed what happened after the anime ended. The movie is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
Kinoshita and Konomoto created the Odd Taxi anime series back in 2021 with13 episodes. The anime was produced by OLM and became an underrated cult classic. A spin-off manga series titled RoOT/Route of Odd Taxi has been published. Written by Kazuya Konomoto and illustrated by Takeichi Abaraya, this manga has been adapted into a live action television drama in 2024.
Set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, Odd Taxi depicts the life of a walrus taxi driver named Hiroshi Odokawa. He meets interesting people, such as Taichi Kabasawa, a jobless person hell bent on going viral, a delinquent named Dobu, a failing comedy duo Homo Sapiens, and a mysterious nurse named Miho Shirakawa. But Odokawa’s normal life comes to an end when the case of a missing girl is tracked back to him. Now, he’s being chased by a couple of corrupt cops and the Yakuza.
