We have some great news for anime movie fans. The upcoming original anime movie The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) by ODDTAXI director Baku Kinoshita will premiere in Japan on 10 October, 2025. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the anime both confirmed the news. The new trailer also unveiled additional characters and their voice actors, as well as the theme song of the movie.

The newly announced additional cast of the movie includes:
- Hayashida voiced by Hideaki Murata
- Tsutsumi voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto
- Wakamatsu voiced by Soma Saito
- Konishi voiced by Kota Nakayama
Previously, the main voice cast of the anime was announced, which includes:
- Akutsu (Past) voiced by Junki Tozuka
- Akutsu (Present) voiced by Kaoru Kobayashi
- Nana Nagata (Young) voiced by Hikari Mitsushima
- Nana Nagata (Old) voiced by Yoshiko Miyazaki
- Housenka voiced by Pierre Taki
The pop band cero performs the theme song ‘Moving Still Life’ for the movie which is featured in the trailer. The director of ODDTAXI, Baku Kinoshita directs the movie, while ODDTAXI’s scriptwriter Kazuya Konomoto handles the screenplay. CLAP Studio produces and animates the movie with Michinoku-toge, a game-art designer and animation creator, providing the concept art. The movie opened at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival, who describe the story as:
Autumn 2023. Akutsu, an elderly inmate serving life in prison, is on the verge of a lonely death in his single cell. A talking Housenka flower says to him, "What a rotten life you had." Akutsu starts reflecting on his past. Summer 1986. Akutsu is living with Nana and her son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of Housenkas. It is the tale of a one-night victorious comeback by a dying yakuza, and his family's story told by a flower that blooms in prison.
