The romance anime has also unveiled a new key visual.

The anime adaptation of late mangaka Hisaya Nakajo’s “Hana-Kimi” revealed new updates during the Aniplex Online Fest event last Saturday, 13 September. The updates included a theme song artist announcement, a new key visual, and the anime’s planned broadcast window: January 2026.

YOASOBI performs opening and ending theme songs, plus other “Hana-Kimi” details

Although the titles for the songs have not been divulged, popular Japanese music duo YOASOBI, who gained worldwide acclaim through theme songs such as IDOL from Oshi no Ko, Kaibutsu from Beastars, and their original releases, are set to perform.

Lilas Ikuta, the singer for YOASOBI, posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account celebrating the announcement of their involvement. In a machine-translation, she stated that “We are deeply honoured to be able to contribute music to this work that has been [seen] by so many people. Thank you for your support.”

The cast for Hana-Kimi have gradually been revealed in the past few months, and are:

The Hana-Kimi anime is based on Hisaya Nakajo’s manga series of the same name. The manga ran from 1996 to 2004 in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine. The manga was previously adapted into a popular TV drama series.

Hisaya Nakajo passed away in 2023 at 50 years old due to a heart condition.

Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:

Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has gotten herself to transfer to a high school in Japan...but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she's going to an all-guys' high school...and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they're more than classmates...they're roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom. And her classmates--and the school nurse--must cope with a new transfer student who may make them question their own orientation...
