The series adapts Kureha’s light novel series of the same title.
Aniplex unveiled the cast, staff, teaser video, and key visual for the anime adaptation of Kureha’s Oni no Hanayome (The Ogre’s Bride). The news was announced through the Aniplex Online Fest event held on Saturday, 13 September.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the anime will premiere sometime in 2026, although an exact broadcast date is yet to be determined.
Oni no Hayanome cast, staff, and other details
Saori Hayami (Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer, Yor Forger in Spy x Family, Falin Touden in Delicious in Dungeon) is voicing the protagonist Yuzu Shinonome.
Yuichiro Umehara (Haruhisaa Kuribayashi in Aoashi, Mars in Black Clover, Kureno Soma in Fruits Basket) will be voicing Reiya Kiryuuin.
The anime will be directed by Kazuhito Omiya at Colored Pencin Animation Japan. Yumi Kamakura is in charge of scripts, Hikari Tanaka is designing the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.
The anime will follow the story of the light novel series, and is set in an alternate-reality Japan where humans and demons coexist. Yuzu, an ordinary high school girl, lives in the shadow of her elder sister, and suffers from it. However, the direction of her life changes when she meets a beautiful and powerful ogre named Reiya, who claims that she is his bride.
The light novels began publication on Starts Publishing’s Novema platform in 2019, where it also received the grand prize at the First Novema! Character Short Story Contest. A manga adaptation illustrated by Jun Togashi would later be serialised in Starts Publishing’s Noicomi magazine in 2021. Both light novels and manga collectively have over 5.8 million copies in circulation.
