Based on a series of light novels by Matsuri Akai, My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s is getting an anime adaptation that’s set to premiere in October 2025. An exact date is yet to be revealed.
Takeo Otsuka, who voices Aqua Hoshino in Oshi no Ko and Jinshi in Apothecary Diaries, will take on the role of the titular assassin Akira Oda, while Saku Mizuno, who voices Ryo Yamada from Bocchi the Rock! and Koyuki Yoshidomi from Oshi no Ko, will voice the hero Amelia Rosequartz.
The anime adaptation will be produced by studio Sunrise, with Nobuyoshi Habara as director. The series scripts are written by Kunihiko Okada, while Hirona Okada and Kaori Saito are in charge of character designs. The monster designs are done by Masahiro Yamande, and Mitsuri Isihara is slated as main animator. Satoshi Igarashi is set to compose the music.
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s light novel series was first serialised on the Let’s Become Novelists website in January 2017, and is currently still ongoing. A manga adaptation of the series was also released in 2018 on OVERLAP’s Comic Gardo website, and was illustrated by Aigamo. Both the light novels and manga are available on Seven Seas Entertainment’s website. The official story description is as follows:
