The voice actress for the main role has also been revealed.
Initially announced during the Kadokawa “Sneaker Bunko 35th Anniversary Festa” event back in September 2023, the anime adaptation for the light novel series “Tenkō-saki no Seiso Karen na Bishōjo ga, Mukashi Danshi to Omotte Issho ni Asonda Osananajimi Datta Ken” (The Neat and Beautiful Girl at My New School Was My Childhood Friend Whom I Thought Was a Boy and I Played Together With), more commonly shortened to Tenbin, has finally unveiled a broadcast window for 2026.
Additionally, the anime revealed a new teaser visual, which features the character Haruki Nikaido, and opened a teaser website.
“Tenbin” anime cast, staff, and other details
The voice actress taking on the role of Haruki Nikaido will be Ikumi Hasegawa. Hasegawa is known for her roles as Kazuho Haneyama/Pop Step in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Masaki in Mayonaka Punch, and Kotoha Tachibana in Wind Breaker.
A teaser video featuring Hasegawa’s voice lines as Haruki was shared to the official YouTube account of Asmik Ace, which we can assume will animate the series. Asmik Ace is also known for animating anime titles such as “March Comes in like a Lion”, “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!”, and “Teasing Master Takagi-san”.
In the details section of the video, the story for “Tenbin” is described as:
“We'll Always Be Friends!”
At the end of a childhood summer, Hayato made a promise with his precious male friend.
Seven years later, after transferring to a high school in the city, he reunites with his childhood friend, who has now become a pure and beautiful girl!
Haruki, known as a girl beyond his reach, smiles at Hayato with the same old vibe when they're alone…
Country and city, boy and girl, their minds and bodies have grown.
While some things have changed during their time apart, there are unchanging feelings and promises…
The beginning of a youthful romantic comedy woven with a childhood friend who was once his "male friend"!
As for staff, the details are still under wraps.
The “Tenbin” light novels, written by Yu Hibari and illustrated by shiso, began serialising online in June 2020 through the Shosetsuka ni Naro website, before being acquired by Kadokawa Shoten. The series has eight volumes under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko Imprint. The series is still ongoing.
A manga adaptation with art by Kina Oyama was serialised in Fujimi Shobo via the Niconico Seiga website, as part of the Dra Dra Flat brand from 2021 to 2025.
To celebrate the announcement, Shiso revealed a new artwork featuring Haruki.
