Rie Takahashi is best known for voicing characters like Emilia from Re:Zero and Ai from Oshi no Ko.
Celebrated Japanese voice actress Rie Takahashi, who has done a number of roles for some of the most popular anime titles, has announced on her official X (formerly Twitter) account that she is going on a one-month hiatus to prepare for vocal cord surgery.
Rie Takahashi to take short break for surgery
Takahashi revealed that she was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules, which are benign, callous-like growths that develop on the vocal cords. Due to the nature of her work, Takahashi decided to undergo surgery to have them removed in preparation for her future long-term activities.
Takahashi apologised to her fans and supporters, but reiterated that she is in good health regardless of her situation right now. She also thanked all the people involved in arranging her schedule and the staff at her agency, 81 Produce, for taking the time to help her out.
Takahashi appeared optimistic, and will take the opportunity to fully recuperate so that she can once again engage with her work, in a careful and sensitive manner.
Takahashi is known for her work in a number of popular anime titles like Re:Zero as Emilia, Oshi no Ko as Ai Hoshino, and recently in The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You as Iku Suto. Besides her voice work in anime, Takahashi is also known for her work in video games, specifically in her role as Hu Tao from Genshin Impact.
