BULLET/BULLET drops new trailer and reveals theme song by Newspeak

The new trailer reveals a world in chaos as Gear gets caught in a manhunt and a conspiracy that could change everything.

A new trailer for BULLET/BULLET, the original anime directed by Park Sung-hoo (Jujutsu Kaisen, Garo: -Vanishing Line-), was released on Thursday, 1 May. Alongside a fresh wave of action, it reveals the ending theme Glass Door, performed by the three-piece rock band Newspeak.

The trailer opens with a powerful shout: “The soul is roaring! GO AHEAD!” Viewers see Noa asking Gear to retrieve a keepsake that once belonged to her father. As the visuals ramp up, Chanmina’s WORK HARD kicks ina high-energy track packed with rapid beats, heavy bass and punchy drops, underscoring scenes of fast-paced combat and chaos. Snippets of dialogue suggest a deeper plot at work, with references to a hidden government secret and characters resigned to the belief that “you can’t do anything about it.”

Gear, however, refuses to back down. Near the end of the clip, he shouts, “Even if you tell me it’s impossible, even if you say you can’t do it, I’ll destroy the world you can’t!”

In the trailer’s closing moments, a snippet of Glass Door plays as Gear and his allies urge those around them to resist oppression, saying they “are not dogs.” Newspeak said they were struck by the characters’ drive to move forward despite being trapped in a suffocating world. “We were really moved by the characters and how they push forward, chasing hope in such a suffocating world. We poured that feeling into the song.”

They added that Director Park and the team had asked them to express what they felt through BULLET/BULLET in their own style. “That freedom really shaped the music,” the band shared. “We hope this anime helps people find even a little spark of light in their own lives, and we’d be glad if our music plays a part in that.”

Set in a near-future wasteland where civilisation has collapsed, BULLET/BULLET follows a boy named Gear who works at a junk shop. He teams up with Shirokuma, a gambling addict, and Qu-0213, a robot with four personalities, to run a business that steals back items taken unfairly. One day, a mysterious girl named Noa asks Gear for help retrieving something important, only to trigger a manhunt by assassins and armed groups from the wasteland. The job may have exposed a secret powerful enough to change everything.

The anime is written by Kindaichishi, with character design and animation direction by Takahiro Yoshimatsu. BULLET/BULLET will stream exclusively on Disney+ Star starting 16 July.

In Japan, the anime will also be shown in cinemas. The first screening, Bullet Sprint Edition, a re-edited version of the series, premieres on 25 July. The second part, Bullet Showdown Edition, will follow on 15 August at Shinjuku Piccadilly and other theatres.
