Highlighting the life of ex-hitman Taro Sakamoto, Sakamoto Days has been one of the most anticipated projects of 2025.
Imagine: you’re a former genius hitman who fell in love one day and decided to leave the life of violence behind. However, your skills have made you so popular that assassins turn up from time to time in your general store to kill you. Such is the life of Taro Sakamoto, an ex-assassin turned loving husband and father. Based on Yuto Suzuki’s popular action-comedy manga of the same name, Sakamoto Days is undoubtedly one of the most awaited anime debuts of this year.

As you may already know, the Sakamoto Days anime will release its first episode on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The series will be aired internationally on Netflix. The first cour of the show will have a total of 11 episodes streaming every Saturday. It has also been revealed that the second cour of the anime will be released in July 2025. This means fans won’t have to wait long for the series’ return.
Sakamoto Days English dub cast has been announced
Netflix has also revealed the English dub cast of the show along with a new trailer. As per the announcement, Matthew Mercer will voice the protagonist, Taro Sakamoto, with Rosie Okumura as his wife Aoi Sakamoto. Other cast members include Dallas Liu as Shin Asakura, Rosalie Chiang as Lu Shaotang, Xolo Maridueña as Heisuke, Aleks Le as Nagumo, SungWon Cho as Boiled, Lexi Cabrera as Obiguro, Du-Shaunt “Fik-Shun” Stegall as Son Hee, and Toru Uchikado as Bacho.
The story of Sakamoto Days will begin with Taro Sakamoto, the former star hitman, managing a convenience store he runs with his wife Aoi. Married life has changed Sakamoto greatly, as he has lost his former toned physique and gained a lot of weight since he quit being a hired mercenary. Many assassins visit the store every day to kill Sakamoto, but the legendary hitman always sends them back after thoroughly defeating them. One day, he is attacked by Shin Asakura, a young assassin with mind-reading powers. Upon seeing the happy and peaceful life Sakamoto lives with his family, Shin also decides to quit being a hitman and joins as an employee in Sakamoto’s store. But there’s one catch: Shin can’t kill anybody!
