The Spring 2025 season hasn’t disappointed halfway through its broadcast.
A new anime season started at the beginning of April and we’re already almost halfway through. The Spring 2025 lineup of course has many returning anime as well as brand new titles. Although there are some disappointments, fans would be happy to know that none of the top contenders of the season let us down. From comedy to sci-fi, and from action to romance, our first impression of the Spring 2025 anime lineup is looking great so far!
WITCH WATCH

If you love absurd comedy, then this anime adaptation of Kenta Shinohara’s manga is perfect for you. The light and breezy supernatural romance centers around Nico Wakatsuki, a young witch that has just finished her training. She comes back to the town she grew up in and starts living with Mori, an ogre boy who’s also her familiar. As they start attending high school together, their relationship grows with every mess Nico’s magic lands them in. The show is incredibly fun with good animation and great voice performances. So far, the show looks like a perfect Spring romance series to add to your watchlist.
Go!Go!Loser Ranger! Season 2

As a returning series, people had a lot of expectations from this anime. And we’re glad to inform you that the show lives up to all the expectations set by its predecessor. The story continues from where the first season had ended and many new characters have joined the series. Footsoldier D and his allies are now even more integrated into the Dragon Keepers and things are getting more dangerous for them. Even if you didn’t watch the first season, it’s high time for you to give the anime adaptation of Nagi Haruba’s manga.
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: GQuuuuuuX

Mobile Suit Gundam fans were of course incredibly happy this Spring as their favourite sci-fi series came back with another sequel installment. Thankfully, neither the story nor the animation has let us down so far. With some incredible robot designs inspired from Evangelion, this series is a decadent treat for those who grew up with mecha anime. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

Definitely one of the most-awaited releases of this season, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is a prequel set before Kohei Horikoshi’s original My Hero Academia manga and anime. Adapted from Hieyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court’s manga, the anime has been pretty great so far. It focuses on Koichi Haimawari, a man without a hero license who wants to help people and becomes a vigilante with his two friends. So far, the episodes have shown incredible character growth as well as fantastic action sequences–just what people want from a superhero series. You can learn more about the show from our My Hero Academia: Vigilantes review collection.
Kowloon Generic Romance

If you are a fan of sci-fi seinen, then this anime adaptation of Jun Mayuzuki’s popular manga is something you should watch. Fans of the original manga were scared as the anime will be wrapping the whole story up in just 13 episodes. This is especially a concern seeing the manga is yet to end. But this bizarre romance, which takes place in an alternate Kowloon Walled City has been incredible so far. Not only is the animation unique and charming, but the voice actors have also done a phenomenal job with the characters. Although it’s still in its first half, the anime has definitely exceeded the fan expectations.
Rock is a Lady’s Modesty

This anime adaptation of Hiroshi Fukuda’s manga is incredibly entertaining and funny. It follows Lilisa Suzunomiya, who starts attending an elite all-girls’ high school after her mother remarries into a rich family. Although she’s the paragon of beauty and virtue to her friend, Lilisa can’t forget her past and how much she loves playing the guitar. But when she meets another beautiful classmate who secretly plays drums in the abandoned school building, Lilisa’s life changes drastically. The series has really good music and amazing voice performances. Lilisa and Otoha’s dream of forming a rock band together is coming true as two more girls have joined their endeavor. If you enjoy rock music and female friendship, then you can give this series a try.
Lazarus

Shinichirō Watanabe, the famed creator of Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Terror in Resonance came back this April with a brand new original series. In 2049, a man named Dr. Skinner discovers a drug which claims to relieve the user of any pain without any side effects. But soon after people start using it, he disappears. He comes back three years later in 2052 to tell people that everyone who took that drug will die very soon. A task force is created to find Sinner within 30 days and find the vaccine before people start dying. The high-intensity and high-risk series has already gotten fans on the edge of their seats. The stakes are rising with every episode and fans are reminded of Watanabe’s popular older shows. If you are a fan of the creator’s work, then you should definitely start watching Lazarus.
Fire Force Season 3

The third and final season of the popular Shonen anime is finally here! The season brought the heat right from the beginning and was able to hook the audience in. So far, the story progression has been really good and everyone loves it. The new characters introduced in the series are also amazing and have made the plot even more tight. Overall, the final season is looking up to be absolute fire (no pun intended). If you’re someone who hasn’t watched the anime adaptation of Atsushi Ohkubo’s manga, then I suggest you do it right now! Wind Breaker Season 2

Another long-awaited returning shonen title that has blown away fans by its excellence. Wind Breaker Season 1, based on Satoru Nii’s manga, was a smash hit amongst anime fans when it came out last year. With excellent animation and mind-blowing action, the series was entertaining and emotional. The current season took it up a notch as it began with a massive fight between Bofurin and another group. After that, things have been calm, but we have met some new characters that give the anime even more depth and beauty. If you love action, drama, and emotional depth, then Wind Breaker should be on your watch list. Learn more about the series from our Wind Breaker Season 2 review collection.
Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc

The fifth season of the extremely popular supernatural dark fantasy anime series has been phenomenal so far. Not only does the show do justice to Yana Toboso’s manga, it elevates the experience through amazing music and voice performances. The fourth season of the anime came out last year after almost a decade. Naturally, fans are glad to see the show back on a more regular basis. If you haven’t watched Black Butler yet, now is the perfect time to do so.
