The English version will begin streaming on the platform on 15 August.
In an important update, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Netflix Anime announced that YAIBA: Samurai Legend (Shin Samurai-den YAIBA), is getting an English dub. The main cast of the dubbed version was also revealed. Moreover, it was confirmed that the English, Spanish (LATAM), and Brazilian Portuguese versions of the anime will all air on 15 August, 2025.

The voice actors joining the English version of the show are:
- Yaiba voiced by Erica Mendez
- Sayaka voiced by Rebecca Wong
- Kenjuro voiced by Craig Lee Thomas
- Onimaru voiced by Alan Lee
The Japanese version of the anime aired on 5 April. Produced by Wit Studio, the series is directed by Takahiro Hasui. Touko Machida handles series composition while Yoshimichi Kameda is the character designer and chief animation director. Maiko Okada is the animation producer, while Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa composed the music.
The anime is adapted from Gosho Ayama’s manga series, which was first made into an anime in 1993. Netflix streams the anime in North America and some other regions. Viz Media licensed the series and describes the story as:
Yaiba Kurogane has spent his days training in the jungle in order to attain his goal of becoming a real samurai. By a twist of fate, he returns to Japan and starts living with the Mine family, who are connected to his father, Kenjuro. Yaiba constantly baffles the Mines’ daughter Sayaka as she witnesses his wild and reckless ways.
One day, Yaiba tags along with Sayaka to school and has a fateful encounter with Takeshi Onimaru, a kendo expert. Yaiba and Onimaru repeatedly clash, and as if in response to their search for strength, two ancient powers are unleashed: the Fujinken, the Wind God’s Sword, and the Raijinken, the Thunder God’s Sword. Both supernatural blades that have jolted the world since ancient days have reawakened… and the truth behind them is revealed!
