The second feature film of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime franchise is coming out next year. A new trailer for the film revealed that it’s coming out on 27 February, 2025. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the anime confirmed the title of the film, which is: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Blue Sea Arc (Gekijō-ban Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Sōkai no Namida-hen).

Eight Bit continues to produce the anime movie, and the cast from the original anime is returning as well. This movie features a completely original story that doesn’t come from the light novel or manga spin-offs. However, the author of the light novel series Fuse drafted the story for this upcoming original movie.
The story of the movie takes place after the opening ceremony of the Jura Tempest Foundation. The ruler of the Elf nation of Sarion, Elmesia, invites Rimuru and his friends to a resort island she owns. Rimuru and his companions enjoy the short vacation. However, the appearance of a girl named Yura changes everything, as they are now forced to face a new threat.
The anime series and movies are based on the light novel series written by Fuse, and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It also has a manga adaptation as well as multiple manga spin-offs. The first season of the anime aired in 2018, with the second following in 2021. The second spin-off manga was adapted into an anime in the same year. An anime film came out in 2022 with a three-episode ONA titled Visions of Coleus following in 2023. The third season of the main anime came out in 2024. Along with the upcoming movie, the fourth season of the anime has also been announced, although the release date remains unknown. Crunchyroll streams the whole series, and describes the story as:
