The Blue Miburo anime series is coming back at the end of this year with a brand new season! The official website and social media accounts of the anime revealed a new key visual announcing the upcoming season titled ‘Serizawa Assassination Arc’. The series will premiere on 20 December 2025, as a part of the Winter 2026 season.

The upcoming season will cover the Serizawa Assassination Arc. The titular character Serizawa Kamo was the original lead commander of the group Mibu Roshigumi aka Miburo. In real life history, he was assassinated in 1863.
Kumiko Habara directed the first season of the anime under Maho Film. It’s unknown if the old team is returning to produce the new season. The anime series is based on Tsuyoshi Yasuda’s historical manga of the same name. The first season of the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll in several countries. Kodansha publishes the original manga and describes the story as:
