The Madoka Magica movies “The Beginning Story” and “The Eternal Story” are getting the television treatment.
In anticipation for the long-awaited “Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising”, it has been revealed that the first two compilation movies to the franchise are being re-edited for television broadcast.
The news, which was announced through the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the series as well as its official website, revealed that the TV edition will begin broadcasting on MBS/TBS starting 12 October, 2025 at 5PM, and will air every Sunday. The TV edition was furthermore confirmed to contain 11 total episodes.
“Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Beginning Story” and “Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Eternal Story” are the first two films in the Madoka Magica movie franchise. The two act as compilation films retelling the events of the original 2011 anime, but included newly-adapted animation and storytelling. The films were released in October 2012.
Additionally, the two films also acted as the base for the third film in the series, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion”, which acts as a direct and original sequel to the events of the story. The movie was released in 2013, and explored the aftermath of Madoka’s sacrifice and how it affected Homura.
