“There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” anime premieres in 2026

Studio Gekkou is producing the upcoming fantasy series.

A month ago, it was announced that Suisei’s light novel series There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her will be getting an anime adaptation. The official website and social media accounts of the series just released a brand new trailer, which reveals that the anime will air in 2026. Crunchyroll revealed during Anime NYC that the platform will stream the anime worldwide including India and the Indian subcontinent. However, they will not stream it in the rest of Asia.

Previously, the series had introduced the two main characters and their voice actors. This includes:

  • Yōki voiced by Kohei Amasaki
  • Cecilia voiced by Kana Hanazawa

Tomonori Mine directs the fantasy romance anime at studio Gekkou, while Yasutaka Yamamoto is the chief director. Yukie Sugawara handles series composition while Mina Osawa is in charge of character design. Satoru Kosaki & MONACA compose the music for the series.

The anime is based on the popular light novel series written by Suisei and illustrated by La-na. A manga adaptation illustrated by Kairi has also been published. The story of There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her revolves around Yōki, a man who is reincarnated into a fantasy world as a demon. But he’s not the demon lord, but one of his underlings that lives in his castle. When a hero’s party attacks the demon lord’s castle, Yōki fights against them. But he falls in love when he sees the cute priest of the party named Cecelia. Both of their life changes when Yōki confesses his feelings.
