The new short trailer revealed that the film will be released during Golden Week in 2026.
The 28th Case Closed film, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, was released in April 2025 and was a massive success. Only after a few months of the movie coming out, the franchise revealed its next feature film venture. The 29th Detective Conan/ Case Closed anime movie is coming out in 2026 during Golden Week in Japan (29 April to 6 May).
29th Detective Conan movie details
A short trailer for the upcoming movie has been released on the TOHO MOVIE official YouTube channel. A more brushed-up version of the trailer was shown at the end of the One-Eyed Flashback movie. Unfortunately, the full title of the upcoming project is yet to be revealed. The teaser only consists of broken images, but at the end, we hear the voice of assistant inspector Chihaya Hagiwara asking, “What did you want to say that day?”
TOHO MOVIE’s official X (formerly Twitter) account announced that the new voice for Chihaya Hagiwara is Miyuki Sawashiro (Daki in Demon Slayer, Hanako Koyanagi in Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku). She is taking the place of the late Atsuko Tanaka, who unfortunately passed away in 2024. No other details about the upcoming film have been announced as of yet.
The Detective Conan anime and movie franchise is based on the legendary Case Closed manga series created by Gosho Aoyama. The story follows high school detective Shinichi Kudo, whose body was transformed into that of an elementary school aged child while he was investigating a mysterious organisation. We see Shinichi solve various crimes with the help of those around him, using his superior intellect.
