The romcom seinen series will air in 2026.
It was announced a few months ago that Jinushi’s comedy, slice-of-life, age-gap romance manga Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is getting an anime adaptation in 2026. On 21 September, the official website and social media accounts of the anime announced the main cast for the upcoming series. The two voices were also featured in a short teaser which used still illustrations and manga panels to introduce the characters.

The two main cast members of the anime are:
- Sasaki voiced by Takuya Satō (Albert James Moriarty in Moriarty the Patriot, Oswald Parnacorta in The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom)
- Yamada/Tayama voiced by Seena Hoshiki (Riamu Yumemi in The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls series)
Unfortunately, no other cast or staff details for the much-anticipated age-gap romance anime have been revealed yet. The anime is based on Jinushi’s popular manga series of the same name. The web manga series began in 2022 and won the Next Manga Award in 2022 in the web category. Square Enix publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he's made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn't realize he already knows her!
