The original stage play Tachikawa Jinsuke will also be adapted into a web manga.
It was announced a few days ago during Aniplex Online Fest 2025 that an original anime series titled Inherit the Winds is under production. The TV anime is based on Yutaka Narui’s Tachikawa Jinsuke stage play quadrilogy, the first of which is Inherit the Winds. A brand new trailer for the upcoming anime was revealed on 18 September, highlighting the main cast. Unfortunately, the release schedule of the series still remains unknown.
Inherit the Winds main cast, staff and other details
According to the official website and social media accounts of the anime, the main cast are:
- Jinsuke Tachikawa voiced by Daisuke Sakuma (pop-idol in the Snow Man group)
- Soji Okita voiced by Yuki Kaji (Eren Yeagar in Attack on Titan, Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia)
- Hyougo Koganei voiced by Aoi Yuki (Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries, Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia)
The new trailer of the series features the main voice cast. Tomohiro Kawamura directs the anime at Live2d Creative Studio and Drive Inc. The original creator of the Tachikawa Jinsuke plays Yutaka Narui is writing the scripts for the anime as well. Fumi Ebina designs the characters while Shigeru Kishiba composes the music.
It was also announced that a four-panel gag manga by Matsuri Muramatsu will be released on Twi4 next year. It will focus mainly on the daily lives of the characters.
The story of Narui’s Tachikawa Jinsuke quadrilogy takes place during the Meiji Restoration in the Bakumatsu era in Kyoto. The plot centers around an amnesiac soldier who is miraculously saved by the famous Shinsengumi member Sōji Okita. The new man is named Jinsuke Tachikawa by Okita and starts a new life with the other Mibu soldiers during a tumultuous time.
