“Grand Blue Dreaming” Season 3 production announced

The second season of the anime has come to an end.

The popular comedy anime Grand Blue Dreaming, sometimes simply referred to as Grand Blue, first came out in 2018. Fans had to wait for seven years for a second season in 2025, and when Season 2 came to an end on 22 September, fans thought another hellish period of waiting might begin. However, the official website and social media accounts of the anime almost immediately announced that a third season is already in production!

Grand Blue Dreaming Season 3 details

The announcement of a third season came with a very cheeky (pun intended) teaser visual. The visual consists of Iori and Chisa, sitting by the sea in their swimsuits. Unfortunately, no other details about the upcoming season have been announced yet. But it seems that the audience won’t have to wait long for the next sequel.

Shinji Takamatsu wrote, directed, and was the sound director for the second season of the beloved anime at studios Zero-G and Liber. Hideoki Kusuma was the character designer and the chief animation director while Yukari Hashimoto composed the music.

The Grand Blue Dreaming anime is based on the  manga series written by Kenji Inoue and ilustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka. It began publishing on Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine back in 2014, and has 24 volumes till now. The series is popular amongst fans for its adult humour. Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English. Crunchyroll currently streams the first two seasons of the anime and describes the story as:

University is back in session for Iori, and so are the booze-fueled parties! Between diving club shenanigans, a surprise from his sister, and wild tests of courage, normal college life is anything but. Dive back into the madness with Iori and his beloved crew of lively splash artists.
