Nigerian players try to score their own goals, but don’t succeed.
The match begins again after the half-time break in Blue Lock manga’s latest chapter. Instead of depending only on Onazi, all Nigerian players try scoring their own goals. However, since they don’t have any previous experience with this type of gameplay, it doesn’t work out well in their favour. Ego gives the Blue Lock players a speech about how football is similar to hunting and brings out a similar primitive response in the brain. Isagi and Rin team up to try something new.

Blue Lock Chapter 319 recap

The match begins again, and Rin runs up with the ball. In between the game panels, we see Ego talking about football. He says that the reason why football is so famous is not just because despite their backgrounds, anyone in the world can dominate a field with just a ball. But the reason behind its fame is far more primitive. The origin of all sports lies in hunting, something our ancestors used to do. Cave paintings suggest that sports like martial arts and throwing stones and spears originated from the need to acquire prey. In simpler words, much like how hunting fills empty stomachs, sports satisfy the hunger in people’s souls, and that’s why everyone is so entranced by it.
Rin is stopped by the Nigerian player Obo, who deftly passes the ball to Bello, who tries to get a goal himself instead of passing to Onazi. He dodges Karasu, but the Japanese defender easily catches up with him. In panic, Bello passes to Sadiq, who is cornered by both Chigiri and Reo. Ego likens football to a group hunting where a team chases down their prey and finishes it off together. Sadiq kicks the ball to Onazi, who jumps up in the sky to receive it. Ego says that in this group hunting, the striker is the person who fearlessly leads the charge and lands the final blow on the enemy. That’s why, everyone instinctively yearns for these heroes known as strikers.

Seeing Onazi receive the ball, all Blue Lock players try to corner him as he’s Nigeria’s striker. However, he just passes the ball mid-air to Kuso, who heads for the goal. Ego says that the world’s greatest striker is the world’s greatest hunter. Kuso tries to score, but Rin easily deflects the ball. He says that Kuso doesn’t have enough goal lust. Oliver Aiku hits the ball with his head towards Isagi, who looks at Rin as they plan to execute a play together. Ego, looking at his perfectly egotistical products, tells them to go and hunt their dreams of becoming the world’s best. He tells them to prove that they’re heroes as Isagi runs in with the ball.
Blue Lock Chapter 319 review

The hunters are ready to deliver the final blow! In the past chapter, Isagi and Rin decided to try something new as winning with a tried and tested formula won’t help them grow. Instead of just playing for their own goals, they are teaming up in this new move, which is surprising because we know how egotistical both Isagi and Rin are. However, as always, Ego seems to have a plan. It seems that Japan will be able to win this match easily with one or two more goals. But if Nigeria fails to score even one goal, then this match won’t be interesting at all. Despite their new approach, it doesn’t seem the team will succeed as Blue Lock has mastered their playstyle over a long time. It seems that Japan will easily win their first match of the U-20 World Cup.
