Critics Choice Association awards Demon Slayer at 4th Celebration of AAPI Cinema & Television

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle movie bagged the International Animation Award.

The Critics Choice Association’s fourth annual Celebration of AAPI Cinema & Television has honoured Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle with the “International Animation Award”, citing that the feature film has “become the highest-grossing anime film of all time at the global box office.”

This is the first award that the latest installment to the franchise has received, and it is truly well-deserved.

Infinity Castle, with its official title being “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns”, has broken multiple box office records both in Japan and globally, and has become the highest-grossing anime and Japanese film of all time worldwide

The current worldwide box office of Infinity Castle sits at approximately US$616 million as of September 2025.

What is Infinity Castle about?

The Demon Slayer anime is directed by Haruo Sotozaki under Studio Ufotable. Akira Matsushima is the character designer and chief animation director. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina compose the music for the series. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll have the rights to screen the three upcoming movies globally.

The Infinity Castle arc is the final battle story arc of the manga by Gotouge. It focuses on the ultimate battle for survival between the Demon Slayers and the demons directly under Muzan. As the creator of all demons, Muzan is extremely powerful. But that doesn’t mean the 12 Moons, including Kokushibo, Douma, and Akaza, are any less so. Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayer corps will find themselves in grave danger in the upcoming films.
