The latest installment in the Chainsaw Man anime franchise, Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc has officially become a box office smash hit. Within just 24 days of its release on 19 September, the film has amassed over JP¥5 billion (US$32.79 million converted) at the Japanese box office. With the film getting released in several other countries in the latter half of October, it will likely rake in a lot more profit in the coming weeks.
Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc stays at the top of Japanese box office for three weeks
In the last few months, Japan’s theaters were dominated by the massive success of the latest Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie. However, when Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc was released on 19 September, it quickly dethroned the previous champion to take the top spot. In the last three weeks, the Reze Arc movie has continued to stay on top of the Japanese box office and garner an impressive audience. A brand new teaser trailer for the movie has been released.
According to the report by Oricon News, Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc has sold 3.55 million tickets in the last 24 days since its release and made over JP¥5.4 billion (US$22.48 million) in profits. On its opening day, the movie brought in 272,000 viewers and made over JP¥420 million (US$2.75 million).
It has been announced that a special card drawn by the mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto, depicting Aki and Angel Devil in another universe where they’re both students, will be distributed amidst theater goers from 18 October.
The Japanese box office is not the only place where the Reze Arc movie was a smash hit. According to the report by Kofic Kobis, the film has climbed to the top of the charts in South Korea as well. The movie was released in South Korea on 24 September, and brought in about KR₩19 billion (US$13.7 million) so far. The Reze Arc movie has been a hit globally, and will only continue to bring in more profits as it’s released in more countries.
The Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc adapts the Reze arc of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s supernatural manga. The story follows Denji as he meets a beautiful girl named Reze and feels attracted to her.
