The anime is based on Kōki Fuyutsuki’s novel series titled The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom. It has a manga adaptation, illustrated by Mago Ayakita.
The story of The Too-Perfect Saint takes place in a fantasy world. Philia comes from a long line of saints, and it has been proven that she’s the most powerful saint her bloodline has produced. She is betrothed to the second prince of her country Ziltonia. However, due to her power and stoic nature, the second prince can’t stand her. He sells her to the neighbouring kingdom of Parnacorta as they also need a saint. But soon after she’s gone, the prince and all of Ziltonia starts to understand how much Philia did for them. As the country starts falling apart, Philia grows accustomed to her new home.
