During the AnimeJapan 2025 event, the upcoming anime Tougen Anki revealed some exciting details for the fans. Not only did the staff unveil a new trailer, but they also announced a video game adaptation. According to the press release, the 3D RPG game will be released on both PC and mobile devices in 2025. The game is being created by Com2uS, known for the popular Summoners War game series. You can read more about the game on the official website of the anime. The Tougen Anki anime was first announced in 2024, with its premiere set for July 2025. The cast so far includes:

The anime is being produced by Studio Hibari with Ato Nonaka (Fate/Zero, Gai-Rei-Zero) directing it. Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Classroom of the Elite, Is the Order a Rabbit?) is the assistant director while Yukie Sugawara (Overlord, The Irregular at Magic High School) is the scriptwriter. Ryoko Amisaki (Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World - The Animated Series, Josee, the Tiger and the Fish) is designing the characters while Kohta Yamamoto (Attack on Titan final season, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga) is composing the music at Pony Canyon. The opening theme song for the series is ‘Overnight’ performed by The Oral Cigarettes. Remow has licensed the anime series.
The anime and game are both based on Yura Urushibara’s popular shonen manga Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood. The story takes place in an alternate universe Japan where the descendants of Oni and Momotaro from the old folktale are still living. One day, the protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, is attacked by a Momotaro warrior, and his adoptive father dies trying to protect him. This awakens the Oni blood within Shiki and he learns why the Momotaro warrior attacked him. He then joins a school where those with Oni blood train to fight the Momotaro faction. With both an anime and a game on the way, this franchise is shaping up to be one of the most hyped projects of 2025.
