Shueisha launches Shonen Jump+ anime adaptation project

The project will be done in collaboration with three animation studios.

In celebration of Shonen Jump+’s 10th anniversary, publisher Shueisha has launched a new anime adaptation project. The news was first reported on by Comic Natalie.

Shonen Jump+ is a free mobile and website application where various manga titles from Shueisha’s magazines are serialised digitally. The site was launched in September 2014, and currently has 90 manga titles and over 2,000 one-shots. The announced anime adaptation project will focus on one-shots, which are manga that tell a complete story in only one chapter.

Shonen Jump+ anime adaptation project details

Not much information has been revealed regarding the project. However, it was divulged that animation studios WIT Studio, CONTRAIL, and Production IG will each work on producing one adaptation.

JOEN, a production company formed by CloverWorks, WIT Studio, Aniplex, and Shueisha, is heading the project. The company was established with the aim of enabling animation studios to oversee projects from planning to production. Further details for the project will be announced within the Shonen Jump+ app and the Shonen Jump+ 10th anniversary website

The project manager has also released a comment, and through a machine translation states:

"Shonen Jump+" has published many one-shot works. The number is over 2000. Why have they published so many works?
There are many reasons, but one of them is "We want to discover the talent of manga artists." Many new writers have tried their hand at one-shots, expressing their pure feelings and passion for manga. And many manga that are supported by readers have been born. This time, the sparkle of their talent will be further polished by the talent of the anime world. Moreover, such a powerful studio has come together. The finished anime will surely be interesting! We will gradually deliver information to everyone from now on, so please look forward to it.

The project is a continuation of the grander celebration for Shonen Jump+’s 10th anniversary, which kicked off with an exhibition on 17 April, 2025, and ended just this 18 May, 2025. The exhibition featured various manga titles serialised within Shonen Jump+, and included a variety of stunning illustrations, immersive videos, and intricate sculptures.
