The upcoming anime movie Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved just announced a new cast member. Famous singer Sachiko Kobayashi, who shares her surname with one of the protagonists has been cast in the film. The movie will be released on 27 June in Japan.

Sachiko Kobayashi will be voicing Felicitas, who is the dragon army leader. It was previously also announced that she will be performing the movie’s ending theme song ‘Bokutachi no Hibi’. Sachiko Kobayashi has been a titan in the Japanese industry since she debuted in 1963, and has been a stable in the Japanese music scene since. Kobayashi also vtubes on the side as the Virtual Grandmother Sachiko Kobayashi. Besides these stints, she also did a number of minor supporting voice work in anime titles like Pokemon and Cutie Honey Universe. She also sang the theme songs for Danganropa, Crayon Shin-chan, and Pokemon to name a few.

“Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!”
