The creator of the 2021 original anime series Sonny Boy, Shingo Natsume, is coming back with another project. This time, it’s an anime movie titled Ghost (subject to change). This is the first time Natsume is working on a movie and he’s paired up with Studio Madhouse again to do so. Unfortunately, not much has been revealed about the project other than Natsume’s involvement. It’s an original anime created by the esteemed director, which fans are excited about. The film is set to premiere sometime in 2027, although a definitive date is yet to be confirmed. Natsume Ono is creating the original characters while Norifumi Kugai is in charge of character design. Madhouse, who worked with Natsume on Sonny Boy, are also producing this film.
According to the reports, the anime movie is a fantasy drama about a girl who wants to protect “the starry sky”. She wants to fight against the absurdities of the world. According to Shingo Natsume, he wants to portray reality and the current problems in a work that is considered to be fiction.
Other than Sonny Boy, Shingo Natsume is also known for his work on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, for which he was the chief animator. His directorial work involves Space Dandy, One-Punch Man Season 1, Boogiepop and Others, and Tatami Time Machine Blues.
