Summer Pockets marks its seventh anniversary with a theatrical compilation film and streaming release following an anime premiere earlier this year.
A compilation film for the Summer Pockets anime is coming to theatres across Japan on 15 August 2025. The announcement was made during a livestream event celebrating the seventh anniversary of the original visual novel by Visual Arts/Key, and later on published on the official Summer Pockets website.
The event also revealed that the television anime will begin streaming on Netflix Japan from 8 August. However, it hasn’t been confirmed if the Netflix release will be available outside of Japan.
What is Summer Pockets about?
Set on a secluded island, Summer Pockets follows protagonist Takahara Hairi, who arrives to sort through his late grandmother’s belongings. As he adjusts to the island’s calm and nostalgic atmosphere, he meets several mysterious girls, each with their own quiet stories and memories. What begins as a summer of reflection gradually becomes something more, as forgotten emotions and hidden truths rise to the surface.
The anime adaptation premiered on 7 April 2025 on Tokyo MX and BS11. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan for regions including North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and more.
Originally released in June 2018 for PC in Japan, the Summer Pockets visual novel was developed by Visual Arts/Key. A Nintendo Switch version followed in June 2019. An expanded edition, Summer Pockets Reflection Blue, was launched for PC in June 2020 and later became available on mobile, Switch, and PlayStation 4. The English-language PC version debuted via Steam in February 2020.
