The revival anime is set to premiere on 2026.
Revealed during Anime Expo 2025 at the Warner Bros. Industries panel stage event last 6 July, the “Fist of the North Star” anime adaptation has confirmed its main cast. Previously, the anime confirmed a 2026 broadcast window, after first being announced in 2023.
The news was paired with a teaser promotional video, which revealed the use of CG instead of traditional 2D in animating the work, a surprise to the fans who’ve been invested in the franchise since its manga release in 1983.

The main cast members are:
Shunsuke Takeuchi is taking on the main role of Kenshiro. He previously voiced Einar in “Vinland Saga Season 2”, Teppa Murakami in “Revenger”, and Daisuke Jigen in Lupin Zero.
In regards to bagging the role of Kenshiro, Takeuchi released a statement celebrating the announcement:
I am very honored to be a part of Fist of the North Star, a title that captures the universal theme of human nature.
For me, Fist of the North Star is a story of “love”.
Love, friendship, human love, love-hate and philanthropy.. - I think the various forms of love expressed in this work are its greatest appeal. As long as there is “love,” humanity can surely be reborn. I would like to cherish and show this unwavering theme.
Daiki Yamashita is taking on the role of the young thief, Bat. Yamashita is best known for voicing Izuku Midoriya from “My Hero Academia”, Yushiro in “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”, and Shu Iura in “Horimiya.
Yamashita commented on his role, stating:
I am thrilled on fire to have the opportunity to play the role of Bat in Fist of the North Star! Bat is a charming character, who acts like Kenshiro's younger brother but also is an equal partner sometimes. He has got his cheerfulness and humor to lighten the mood while at the same time being tough enough to survive in the harsh world. I would like to show his lighthearted tone, quick wit, deep trust in his friends, and the way he grows as a person in a respectful way.
I think the bond between Rin and Kenshiro is especially core to Bat's heart, so I am very much looking forward to carefully building that from the beginning of the series! I hope to live through and grow in this world, with my friends and with Bat!
And last but not least, voice actress M.A.O is taking on the role of Rin, a young girl who lost her ability to speak due to the shock of witnessing her parents’ murder. M.A.O, also known by her name Mao Ichimichi, is known for voicing characters like Grace Auvergne from “Fom Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!”, Mamushi Shima from “Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga”, and Remi Ayasaki from “Horimiya”.
In regards to her role, M.A.O had this to say:
I’m M.A.O, and I will be playing the role of Rin.
I am very honored to participate in a work that is loved by so many people around the world.
I will do my best to express Rin’s charm, elegance and her inner strength, as well as her “destiny” that I felt through the story!
