Netflix will be exclusively distributing “Record of Ragnarok” Season 3, as with its previous two seasons. The anime was previously announced to be in production just last March. Yumeta Company and MARU Animation are working together to animate this season, with Koichi Hatsumi now taking on the role of director. Yasuyuki Muto is in charge of series composition, Yoko Tanabe and Hisashi Kawashima are in charge of character designs, while Takanashi Joji will once again be in charge of the music.
The third season for Record of Ragnarok will pick up where Season 2, which aired in 2023, left off. With the results of the battles between gods and humans evenly split at three wins each, the final battle to determine the fate of humanity continues.
The anime is based on the seinen manga by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui, with illustrations by Azychika. The manga began serialisation in Coamix’s Monthly Comic Zenon in November 2017, and was licensed for an English release by Viz Media in June 2021.
MyAnimeList describes the plot of the series as:
The gods of the world—from Greek to Norse to Hindu mythology—gather every one thousand years to make one important decision: whether or not to wipe out mankind. Repulsed by humanity's selfishness, the council unanimously votes to destroy all humans. But before the decree is enacted, Brunhilde, one of the 13 Valkyries of Valhalla, interrupts the meeting to give mankind a chance at survival.
Brunhilde proposes the idea of enacting Ragnarök, an event in which the strongest 13 mortal warriors fight against 13 gods in one-on-one matches. Although the trial is ridiculed by the gods, the demigod takes advantage of their pride and forces them into an agreement. However, Brunhilde herself must recruit the mightiest heroes throughout humanity's thousand-year history and guide them to victory before they meet their untimely demise.
