Hideaki Anno’s company Studio Khara announced the news.
If you’re a veteran anime fan, then you must know the name Hideaki Anno. He’s the creator of the famed sci-fi series Neon Genesis Evangelion, better known as Evangelion, which aired from 1995-1996. He also helped create the multiple spin off series and movies in the franchise. But now, it seems Hideaki Anno is ready to take on another journey as he is all set to join the popular animation studio Production I.G. in August 2025.
Hideaki Anno will become a board director of Production I.G.
The official website of Studio Khara announced that the CEO Hideaki Anno is all set to become a board director at studio Production I.G. starting 21 August, 2025. Production I.G. is known for its massively popular anime series such as Kimi ni Todoke, Kuroko no Basuke, Haikyu!!, and many more.
Their most recent project Kaiju No. 8, based on Naoya Matsumoto’s manga, also became massively popular. It’s important to note that Anno’s Studio Khara worked on the monster designs for the Kaiju No. 8 anime. It’s possible that the success of the two companies’ collaboration has resulted in Anno officially becoming a part of Production I.G.
Hideaki Anno founded Studio Khara in 2006 and the studio has worked on multiple Evangelion spin-off movie titles since then. With the genius mind behind one of the most celebrated sci-fi anime now set to work at one of the best animation studios, fans are really looking forward to their next projects. Hopefully we will soon get more news about the projects Anno and Production I.G. will collaborate.
