Mamoru Hosoda’s “Scarlet” anime movie reveals additional cast

11 new voice actors have joined the project in various characters.

Famed director Mamoru Hosoda’s next original anime feature film Scarlet previously announced the main cast in an update. It was also revealed that the movie will premiere in Japan on 21 November, while internationally it will be released on 12 December, 2025. In a recent update, it was revealed by the official website of the anime that 11 new voice actors have joined the project.

Scarlet additional cast, staff, and other details

The new voice artists who have joined the film’s cast are:

  • Claudius voiced by Koji Yakusho
  • Amlet voiced by Masachika Ichimura
  • Voltimand voiced by Kotaro Yoshida
  • Gertrude voiced by Yuki Saito
  • Cornelius voiced by Yutaka Matsushige
  • Polonius voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji
  • Raretees voiced by Tokio Emoto
  • Rosenkranz voiced by Munetaka Aoki
  • Guildestern voiced by Shota Sometani
  • Girl voiced by Noa Shiroyama
  • Old woman voiced by Kayoko Shiraishi

The previously revealed main cast of the anime is:

  • Hijiri voiced by Masaki Okada

Mamoru Hosoda writes and directs the movie at Studio Chizu. Takaki Yamashita is the animation director,  Hosoda is known for his amazing work in movies such as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast, Mirai, and Belle. The story of the movie revolves around a kindhearted princess named Scarlet, who fails to save her father the king from being murdered. She wakes up in the ‘Land of the Dead’ where those without purpose disappear into nothingness. After finding her uncle Claudius, who killed her father, Scarlet goes on a journey to exact revenge on him.
