Part 1, “Awakening Mystery”, is a direct sequel to Season 2.
It has been confirmed that the continuation of the anime “Made in Abyss” will be adapted into a series of theatrical movies, with Part 1 being titled “Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery”.
The news, which was announced through the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, also included a teaser visual.

Furthermore, staff and cast for the movie have also been revealed through the official website for Made in Abyss.
Masayuki Kojima is helming the film as director at Kinema Citrus, with screenplay being done by Hideyuki Kurata. The character design is done by Yuka Kuroda and Kazuya Kise.
Some cast members are also confirmed to be reprising their roles, they are:
- Miyu Tomita as Rico
- Mariya Ise as Reg
- Shiori Izawa as Nanachi
- Misaki Kuno as Faputa
“Awakening Mystery” will be a direct sequel to the anime’s second season, “The Golden City of the Scorching Sun”.
Concert film confirmed for February 2026
To celebrate the decision to adapt the “Made in Abyss” movie series, Kadokawa has also confirmed a film concert. The event will occur on 8 February, 2026, at the Nakano ZERO large hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The original music composer for the series, Kevin Penkin, will personally conduct the Heartbeat Symphony live orchestra during the event. Additionally, fans can look forward to vocal performances and accompaniment by Kou Saito and KIHOW from MYTH & ROID. The main cast for the series will also make guest appearances during the event.
