The anime is adapted from a popular light novel series.
The Japanese light novel series Akuyaku Reijō no Tsuihōgo! Kyōkai Kaikaku Gohan de Yũyũ Sister-gurashi (After the Villainess' Exile! Living Quietly as a Nun Reforming with Church Meals) by Tail Yuzuhara has received an anime adaptation. Tsumuji Yoshimura, who illustrates the manga adaptation of the novel, revealed the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In his post, Yoshimura included a key visual of the two main characters of the story. He also announced the news on his blog. However, no other details have been revealed as of yet. The After the Villainess' Exile! Living Quietly as a Nun Reforming with Church Meals light novel series by Tail Yuzuhara first began publishing in 2018. Kadokawa started publishing the novels with illustrations by Yuu Siroya in 2019, and released the second and final volume in the same year. The manga adaptation by Yoshimura began in 2018 and ended in 2024. Kadokawa publishes the manga in English on their BookWalker website and describes the story as:
Elizabeth was known as a villainess but in fact, she was a decent and honest girl. But she was accused by mistake, found guilty and exiled...but she accepted her situation. That was because...she had her memory from her previous life as an event planner in Japan, and she knew what was coming. She was in the Otome game world she loved!!
