The anime will enter its next story arc in Episode 22.
The ongoing historical fantasy anime Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentōshō just revealed some exciting new updates. With its 22nd episode, the anime will enter the Meiji Arc. To celebrate the next story setting, the series unveiled a new key visual. Moreover, the official website and social media accounts of the anime also revealed new voice cast members who will join the project for the upcoming arc.

The four new cast members who will appear in the Meiji Arc are:
- Kaneomi voiced by Yumiri Hanamori
- Utsugi Heikichi voiced by Toshiki Kumagai
- Himwari voiced by Tomori Kusunoki
- Jishibari voiced by Yume Miyamoto
The new Meiji arc begins with Episode 22 of the series. The anime began airing on March 31, and will continue for two consecutive cours (24 episodes). The official website announced that due to some delays, the 22nd episode will be rebroadcast on 15 September, with episode 23 and 24 coming out on 22 and 29 September, 2025. HIDIVE streams the anime outside of Japan.
Kazuya Aiura directs the anime at Yokohama Animation Lab. Deko Akao is the screenwriter while Taro Ikegami designs the characters. MONACA’s Ryuichi Takada, Keiichi Hirokawa, and Kuniyuki Takahashi are composing the music. The anime is based on the historical fantasy novel series written by Moto'o Nakanishi and illustrated by Tamaki. A manga adaptation by Yū Satomi has also been published. Seven Seas entertainment publishes both the light novels and manga in English and describes the story as:
For generations, a shrine has stood in the mountain village of Kadono, and for each generation the shrine has had an Itsukihime—its shrine maiden—and the maiden has had her guardian. During the Edo period, a young man named Jinta protects the town and the Itsukihime. When he confronts a strange demon in the nearby forest, it tells him that in the distant future a Demon God will threaten all people, everywhere, and it claims that the Demon God’s rise to power springs from this very time and place, in the village of Kadono. So begins the centuries-spanning journey of a man tainted by demons, hunting through time to seek justice for what he’s lost, and to find a reason to keep on fighting.
