The anime is based on the light novel series of the same name written by Akira Iwafune and illustrated by Sunaho Tobe. The manga adaptation of the series is also illustrated by Tobe. The official website of the anime describes the story as (machine translation):
Kaede, an ordinary high school girl, wakes up in an unfamiliar back alley to find herself in a mysterious otherworld inhabited by beastmen, elves, and dragons .
Kaede notices an unfamiliar book in her backpack . It's a mysterious book that allows her to make powerful potions simply by chanting the word "creation" !
For Kaede, who was thrown into another world, the potions she produced became a source of sustenance for her life.
Hoping to one day return to Japan, the high school girl's struggles in this other world continue.
