Crunchyroll will stream the “You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!” anime in 2026

The first episode of the series will premiere at the New York Comic Con in October.

Crunchyroll announced that it has licensed the upcoming romance anime You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! worldwide (excluding Asia). The series will be released in 2026, although a definitive premiere date remains unknown. Moreover, Crunchyroll also revealed that the first episode of the series will be screened at the New York Comic Con during the Crunchyroll Premieres Round 2 panel on 12 October, 2025.

You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! anime details

The anime will stream on Crunchyroll in 2026. The territories where the anime will be available on Crunchyroll include: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS. 

The anime has shared only three cast members so far, which includes:

  • Shio Minamo voiced by Rin Kusumi
  • Akari Hiodoshi voiced by Yū Serizawa
  • Runa Tsukimi voiced by Sae Hiratsuka

Tezuka Productions animates the project, although other production details are unavailable right now. The anime is based on Shinya Misu’s manga series of the same name. Crunchyroll describes the story as:

Eeyuu, a high school boy, has a problem! Shio and Akari, his two childhood friends who go to the same high school, are too cute! They have no intentions, but if they find out that he is the only one looking at them sexually now that they've grown up... it would be so embarrassing! On the other hand, the two childhood friends also have their own secrets...? It's too tantalizing!!
