Crunchyroll Anime Awards returns to Japan on 25 May, 2025

The ninth iteration of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards is set to take place in Japan.

During an industry panel at CCXP, Crunchyroll revealed that the Crunchyroll Anime Awards is set to return to Japan on 25 May, 2025. The ceremony will be held at Tokyo’s Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa, and will also feature an official livestream for fans around the globe to tune into. 

The awards will recognise titles released between 1 October 2023 and 31 December 2024, and will cover five anime broadcast seasons. In future iterations, the eligibility period will align with the standard calendar year from 1 January to 31 December. Crunchyroll also revealed that fan voting will begin on 3 April and end on 14 April 2025, after the judge nomination process for each of the 32 categories are finalised. 

The full list will be available on the Anime Awards official website. Voters will be able to resubmit their ballots in one click each day. The awards show will also feature three new categories: Best Isekai, Best Background Art, and Best Hindi Voice Artist.

  • Best Opening Sequence
  • Best Ending Sequence
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (Japanese)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (Arabic)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (Brazilian Portuguese)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (Castilian Spansih)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance  (English)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (French)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (German)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (Italian)
  • Best Voice Artist Performance (Latin Spanish)

The ninth Anime Awards will be hosted by Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira, with Sony Group Corporation Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida set to give opening remarks. Brazilian drag pop icon and musician Pablo Vittar is slated as celebrity presenter. Additional presenters and musical performers are yet to be announced.
