The anime is set to air sometime in 2025.
The Ruri no Houseki (Ruri’s Jewels/ Introduction to Mineralogy) anime, based on Keiichirō Shibuya’s manga series, just revealed some new details. Previously, fans had learned that the anime is coming out some time in 2025, although a release date hasn’t been fixed yet. The most recent announcement included a brand new trailer, showing off the two protagonists and some other characters. The voice actors for the additional cast members have also been revealed by the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the anime.
Ruri no Houseki cast and staff details
The characters whose voice actors were just revealed are:
- Yōko Imari voiced by Yume Miyamoto (Maki Kunawa in Blue Period, Mei Kamino in Godzilla Singular Point)
- Shōko Seto voiced by Saki Hayashi
- Aoi Kasamaru voiced by Misuzu Yamada (Yuzu Edel in The Stories of Girls Who Couldn't Be Magicians, Earnest Flaming in Classroom for Heroes)
Previously, the voice cast for the two protagonists of the anime were announced. They are:
- Ruri Tanigawa voiced by Miyari Nemoto (Miko Forgeil in Undead Unluck, Ayumi Endo in Honey Lemon Soda)
- Nagi Arato voiced by Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki in Jujutsu Kaisen, Mina Ashiro in Kaiju No.8)
Produced by Studio Bind, the series is being directed by Shingo Fujii (key animator for Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas). Michiko Yokote (Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, xxxHolic) is penning the scripts while Mayu Fujii (Spy x Family: Code White, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) is designing the characters. Daisuke Achiwa (Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!, and Atelier video game series) and Kazuki Yanagawa (Atelier video games, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout TV series) are composing the music.
Ruri no Houseki story and other details
Written and illustrated by Keiichirō Shibuya, the Ruri no Houseki manga series first started publishing in August 2019. The series has been serialised in the seinen magazine Harta by Enterbrain. The series has 5 volumes as of now and is still ongoing.
The story of Ruri no Houseki (aka Introduction to Mineralogy) centers around Ruri, a high school student who absolutely loves jewelry. After meeting Nagi, a girl studying mineralogy, Ruri develops an interest in collecting minerals and learning more about where jewelry comes from. Going by the trailer, it will be another cosy and outdoorsy adventure slice-of-life anime like Laid-Back Camp and Non Non Biyori.
