The characters will appear during the club’s 30 March game.
The One Piece AnimeJapan 2025 stage this year revealed another exciting collab with a sports team. Subaru Kimura, the voice actor who took over the role of Franky from Kazuki Yao, announced that the One Piece anime will be collaborating with German football team Borussia Dortmund at their game on 30 March. The VA also showed off his impressive grasp over the German language during the announcement. A message from the team’s left winger Julian Brandt also played during the event. You can watch the full announcement on YouTube.
What’s in store for the collaboration?
As previously mentioned, the event will happen on 30 March, during Borussia Dortmund’s home game against FSV Mainz. A stunning key visual of all the Straw Hats wearing the team’s jersey was released on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the series. Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece and Dortmund mascot Emma will perform a ‘walking act’ during the event.
Borussia Dortmund is currently playing in the Bundesliga League. As of now, the team is placed 11th on the table, with 10 wins, 11 losses, and 5 draws. The upcoming match against Mainz is quite important for them, and having the One Piece characters to cheer them on will definitely be amazing. In February 2025, One Piece also collaborated with the LA Lakers team in their match against the LA Clippers. It seems that the popularity of One Piece, based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga, is transcending sports and borders in leaps and bounds.
