Call of the Night Season 2 to air exclusively on HIDIVE

The vampire romance anime is coming out this July.

A few months ago, it was announced that Call of the Night Season 2 is all set to premiere in July 2025. Although a definitive release date is yet to be revealed, HIDIVE announced that it will be streaming the romance anime exclusively outside of Japan. The series is now officially a part of HIDIVE’s summer romance lineup.

Detective Ugisu takes centre stage in the new Call of the Night Season 2 trailer

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of HIDIVE has just released a subtitled version of the season 2 trailer.

The second season of the vampire dark fantasy romance will begin with Detective Anko Ugisu, who is determined to hunt down all the vampires. Nazuna, who has no memories of her past, appears to have a connection to this new enemy. Things will get complicated for Ko, Nazuna, and their allies as Ugisu starts hunting them. The new trailer also reminds us that Ko has only ten months left to become a vampire, as a human must turn within a year of being bitten. Meanwhile, Kiku and Mahiru's twisted love story also features in the teaser. However, the main attraction of the series is Detective Ugisu, whose strange connection to Nazuna and Kiku is set to turn everything upside down.

In addition to the new trailer, it was announced that on 5 July 2025, HIDIVE will be hosting a panel event during Anime Expo. Attendees will get a sneak peek at the second episode of Call of the Night Season 2. There will also be a Q&A session where fans can ask questions about the sequel. Anime Expo takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Call of the Night Season 2 production details

Based on Kotoyama’s manga series, Call of the Night Season 1 premiered back in 2022. Tomoyuki Itamura returns to direct the second season, which is produced by Liden Films. Yokote Michiko is again the scriptwriter, with Haruka Sagawa designing the characters.

The story of Call of the Night revolves around a 14-year-old boy named Ko, who is unable to find true satisfaction in life. One day, he starts walking the streets at night, and meets Nazuna, an awkward vampire girl who shows Ko the true enjoyment of nightwalking. Ko wants to become a vampire for Nazuna, but to do that, he has to fall in love with her first.
