“The Apothecary Diaries” author Natsu Hyūga’s other light novel series gets manga adaptation

“Son of the Immortal King” manga already published its first chapter.

The author of the popular historical fiction medical mystery novel series The Apothecary Diaries Natsu Hyūga is getting another of her works adapted into a manga. Her “Son of the Immortal King” light novel series received a manga adaptation by Kadokawa. The news was announced on the Kadocomi X (formerly Twitter) account.

"Son of the Immortal King" manga chapter 1 is already out

The manga adaptation is being illustrated by Ko Udon. A little excerpt of the manga was also published on the Kadocomi X account. You can now read the first chapter of the manga on the Comic Walker website, which came out on 29 May, 2025. Unfortunately, the manga doesn’t have an official English translation as of yet. But fans are hoping that much like The Apothecary Diaries novel, manga, and anime, the Son of the Immortal King manga will also gain a lot of attention soon.

According to the report by Comic Natalie, the story of Son of the Immortal King takes place in an alternate modern Japan where 3% of the population is non-human supernatural beings. A boy named Yamada Fushio transfers to the class of sixth-grade elementary school student Yukiko. Right before the junior high entrance exams, Yukiko is injured when she tries to save a classmate from being attacked by a suspicious person. She survives thanks to Fushio’s intervention, but doesn’t expect how drastically her life would change after being saved by the boy. But it seems that Fushio is not exactly what he claims to be.
